2013 . . . What A Year!

Here we are December 30, 2013--tomorrow is New Year's Eve and we will ring in another new year, 2014! 2013 has been quite the year for me that is for sure . . . it started out pretty good. I was looking forward to the new year. I then ended up getting sick in February--my doctor called it the "crud" and that exactly what it was--I felt like crud. I was put on an antibiotic and it cleared the "crud" up within a week. Then as I posted earlier this year, my grandmother ended up getting sick and spent a week at Fulton County Health Center in March then she was moved over to Fulton Manor Nursing Home where she will remain, her doctor says she is too weak to ever be on her own again--we almost lost her three times when she came down sick--twice at Fulton County Health Center and once at Fulton Manor. We did find out after much testing that she had a stroke at some point, that cold not be pinpointed, but we know it happened and we could tell there was something dif

Christmas 2013 . . . It has came and went for another year!

Oh my goodness, Christmas has came and went for another year--hard to believe it is over, it just went fast, soon 2013 will be a distant memory and 2014 will come in. We went to Fulton Manor this evening to take my Grandmother her gift from the four of us--my mom, my dad, and my brother, Mark.  She loved her gift, she was tickled when she took it out of the bag and Mark unfolded it so she could see it. Got her a plush kitten lap blanket that she can throw over herself if she gets chilled.  We knew she would love it when we seen it and the day it was delivered to the house--we were right she loved it, her eyes lit up when she saw it. I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas Season and I hope everyone has a Happy New Year! Let us look back on 2013 and reflect on the year, the good times and the bad times and hope 2014 will be a better year for everyone.

One Holiday Down . . . One More To Go

Thanksgiving Day 2013 has came and went for another year. There was just the four of us for Thanksgiving Day we had a roasting chicken, mashed potatoes, and peas. The meal was delicious like it always is.   I am thankful this year for my family . . . they are the most important people in my life, without them, I am nobody.  We are so very glad that Grandma has significantly improved health-wise--we can sit down and visit with her like we did before she got sick in March and we almost lost her about 3 times.  She lights up each and every time we go in to see her and is looking forward to our upcoming Christmas Gathering we are going to have with her in about two weeks.  We were able to have Grandma's Christmas Tree put up in her room at Fulton Manor--we are going to put that up tomorrow--Nov. 30, 2013 before we have our Thanksgiving meal with my cousin John and his wife Robin.  She was so glad to hear she could have her tree, she was proud of that tree when she bought it a fe

Thanksgiving Gathering with Grandma, 2013

Here is a picture of my Grandmother, Juanita; My Dad sitting at the table; My Uncle Dave (dad's brother) and Cousin John (mom's Nephew on her side of the family); My Cousin Heather's oldest daughter, Cassie (Grandma's Oldest Great-Granddaughter).  In the activities room @Fulton Manor Nursing Home in Wauseon, OH on Saturday, November 16, 2013 We had a Thanksgiving gathering at Fulton Manor Nursing Home in Wauseon this past Saturday, November 16, 2013.  What an awesome turnout!  We had about 22 people at the event.  We had fixed Hot Chicken for sandwiches, Made from Scratch Candied Sweet Potatoes, Made from Scratch Scalloped Potatoes and Ham, Corn, Celery and Carrots--my cousin Heather celebrated her son, Tier's birthday, his sister Abby baked his cake and decorated it for him--the cake was good--Abby done a good job.  The food was delicious and was a hit with everyone.  My grandmother told us on more than one occasion she felt like a queen.  She enjoyed

Thanksgiving is approaching . . . Much to be thankful for

Thanksgiving 2013 is fast approaching . . . this year I feel I have much to be thankful for: I am thankful for my family . . . they are first and foremost an important factor in my life and without them, I am a lost soul in the realm of the unknown. I am thankful that my grandmother has improved greatly since she was first admitted into Fulton Manor Nursing Home in Wauseon . . . nice to walk in and see her and she smiles and asks how I have been and I can set and visit with her like I did before she got sick--makes my day so much better.  She has gotten back into reading books again, so I make sure she has plenty to read when she is not involved with activities there at Fulton Manor.  I am Thankful I have a great job to go to each and every day and thankful I have a group of colleagues that make the day go by so much quicker and enjoyable--Thank you WPL Colleagues, you know who you are! I am Thankful for the friends I have in my life and I am so blessed to have you in my

An Amazing Story of a 10-Year Old Boy

Thank you so very much, Sean for sending me the links on this wonderful story--I did as I said I would, I read it over and it is just an amazing story: You just have to read this story to see just how amazing this little boy is--even after being robbed and having his lemonade stand trashed by an 8, 10, and 13 year old--he went right back out there and still sold his leomonade to get his PS4 Game System--to think he done this all on his own and paid for his new game system all by himself and received a Young Entrepreneur Award--Simply Marvelous! Again, Sean thank yo so much for sharing this with me and I am glad I put this on my blog. The Tribune Democrat, Johnstown, PA August 21, 2013 Boy whose lemonade stand was robbed honored Patrick Buchnowski pbuchnowski@tribdem.com JOHNSTOWN — Ten-year-old Anthony Sanders has an entrepreneurial spirit. Anthony set up a lemonade stand in Moxham last month to raise money for a PlayStation when a 12-year-old boy pointed a BB gun and

Medical Billing Specialist

I decided to embark on a new adventure and take a correspondence course in Medical Billing and Coding. I enrolled through Stratford Career Institute--it is all correspondence so I am doing this at home--they send me the materials and I pay about $35 a month.  I really wanted to take the coursework online at Stautzenberger College in Maumee, but I am at my Maximum for Financial Aid--I was informed of this by the Financial Aid Office at Stautzenberger and the Department of Education--my max for financial aid meant I cannot get anymore aid for classes--oh well, I will go this route. I received my first module of assignments and the textbook on September 9 and finished Module 1 by September 30.  I received Module 2 Assignments and the textbook with CD-ROM last week and have began going through those lessons and then taking the Exams.  My grade right now for the course is 99%, not bad for doing this all on my own--I can contact instructors with questions or concerns and I have and they

Jack the Giant Slayer

I finally watched Jack the Giant Slayer while I was off work on my Staycation this past week.  It was good, definitely a different spin on Jack and the Beanstalk.  The movie is rated PG-13 it may frighten the younger children, then again maybe not.  I am glad I decided to add it to my personal collection. It is definitely not the Children's version of the story we read about as children. These updated versions of the Children's Stories we have read as children is definitely not for children's viewing, but at the same time kids today do surprise us. I have Red Riding Hood'; Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters; Snow White and the Huntsman; Mirror, Mirror, Oz the Great and Powerful; Thor; Jack the Giant Slayer; Beastly.  They are so not your children's tales, but they are all good and I do recommend anyone to watch them and judge for themselves--these kinds of movies are right up my alley and like them and glad to have them in my own personal collection.  So if you hav

The Fair has began . . . And Other Ramblings

The Fulton County Fair began today . . . don't know if we are going to go this year or not, hope so.  If we don't . . . we don't--but I want some famous fair food! The fair runs through next Thursday, Sept. 5.  I hope to make there--we will see. I will be on vacation next week . . . well, Staycation, not going anywhere just staying home.  Back to work on September 9 . . . see if my colleagues missed me or not. The computer I have had since 2007 has finally decided to start dying,  so I had to find a new computer at a reasonable price--without Windows 8!!!  I found one, it should be delivered next week while I am on vacation . . . then I will start the next chapter in my life, and take coursework in Medical Billing and Coding, don't worry I am not leaving my current job---No Way!  I am going to do the billing and coding from home when I am not at my Full-Time Job--I will see how it goes.  I like my Full-Time Job Too Much and work with a great group of Colleagues--

Alas . . . Said Goodbye To A Good Car

Today, I said goodbye to my 2004 Pontiac Grand Am--that I have had since 2006.  I took it to Don's Automotive this morning and they bought it from me.  I will miss the car, but we have not been driving it as much as we did before I moved in with mom, dad, and my brother.  We have been driving my 2008 Grand Prix more often than the other one.  That is Ok . . . it has been a good car and I have no complaints about it. I got to enjoy it for 7 years.  It will make a good car for someone.

Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters

Recently watched "Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters" on DVD . . . not the fairy tale I remember as a kid. Hansel and Gretel's parents disappeared when they were kids and they became orphans.  They stumbled into a candy-covered cabin in the woods, where there was a mean witch that tortured them--they killed her, thus began their long record of being ruthless witch hunters--Hansel played by Jeremy Renner--his take on witches "a good witch is a dead" witch.  Plenty of action and a little bit of gore--not your children's fairy tale . . . it is a good I give it five stars, but I like these kinds of movies--the sci-fi/fantasy.  If you get the chance to watch this movie--please do, just don't let the little ones watch it without parental supervision.   Hansel and Gretel do find out what really happened to their parents toward the end of the movie . . . a surprise for both of them, and I was surprised.

New Restaurant in my Hometown of Wauseon, OH

A new restaurant had their grand opening in my hometown of Wauseon, Ohio today.  The name of this restaurant is called Downtown Diner--went over there today on my lunch break and tried it out.  The food is good--I will be a repeat customer that is for sure and the prices are not too bad at all. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming.  They are located in the old Sterling Restaurant and yes they also have ice cream from Homestead Ice Cream in Archbold.  If you get the chance to come to Wauseon any time soon stop by the Downtown Diner and try it out. Returned to Downtown Diner today--July 31--to have lunch again on my lunch break--their lunch special today was Hamburg Gravy over mashed potatoes--Yummy!!  It tastes just like my mom's!  I highly recommend anyone that has not been over there for their full-fledged diner menu--try it out I am so glad to have a place like that in Downtown Wauseon--There is Sullivan's Great food and Great Service!  AKA Designs--Deliciously Yummy gour

Oz The Great and Wonderful

I recently watched "Oz The Great and Powerful" it is the story of how the Wizard of Oz became the Wizard of Oz--it is a prequel to the Wizard of Oz.   The movie was very good--James Franco stars as the Wizard and Michelle Williams stars as Glinda the Good Witch.  Disney done a terrific job telling the story.  I will definitely be adding the DVD to my own personal collection.

Another Year Older . . . Next Year is the big 40!

My birthday has came and went without incident.  It was a good birthday . . . I am just another year older, and yes another year wiser--Next Year is the big 40 for me and my Cousin Heather--Not planning any big shindig or anything like that--it will just be another day for me and I will enter another decade--Gosh has time flew the coop. I am still a librarian--Gatekeeper of knowledge and next year will start my 9th year at the Public Library I am employed--no big celebration there either--it is hard to believe that I have been working at the public library for almost a decade--again time has flew by and I enjoy working there and working with the people I work with--I could not ask for a better group of Colleagues to work with--makes the days go by fast as well as our interactions with the patrons that come into the library and utilize our services. Alas another birthday has gone by and it was a good birthday!

2013 Started Out Decent . . . But

2013 Started out decently enough for me and my family.  The end of February rolled around and I ended up with the "Crud" as my doctor called it as did my mom, dad, brother, and grandmother.  I got over mine within a week, mom, dad, and my brother got through it, but Grandma's would not let go--it got worse and worse--we took her to Urgent Care because her former family doctor was on call there--her doctor done nothing--then on March 8--she was taken to the ER at the hospital--she was admitted to the CCU at the hospital and was in there almost a week and she was transferred to a Nursing Home because she needs more care than we could all provide.  Her stay in the Nursing Home is going to be long-term she won't be coming home--she will be moved over to Long-term Extended Care the end of this month.  She is getting better, but there is a very long road ahead--he new family doctor told us she had a stroke at some point, but not sure hold old the stroke is the test did not

2013 . . . It Is Here!

2012 left as fast as it came in.  It was a pretty decent year not only for me and my family but for a number of people in this country.  Let's hope 2013 is a good year for many more people and this country gets back on track. Let's take a moment and pray for the lost children and staff from the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut on December 14--may God be with those families as they are trying to pick up the pieces and move on in their lives after the loss of those 26 souls that are in God's loving arms.  God Bless you all. We will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers always. 2013 has started off with me taking some time to completely restore my desktop computer--it started acting up before the Holidays and just got worse from there so I completely restored it--so far (knock on wood) it is working much better.  I have had to restore this machine--this is the second time--since I have had it and I will have it for 6 years later on this year so that is not
