Enjoying my Kindle Fire

I have had my New Amazon Kindle Fire now for about 2 weeks.  I am having fun with it--downloading free books (who would have ever guessed that the free books would end up being good titles that grab your attention).  It is so much fun (not that I plan on never reading a book, book ever again--I still like to read a book, book.  The electronic version just makes it easier for travel--instead of taking three or four books when I would travel, I can take my Kindle and read the books that I have downloaded to it (the Kindle is so much lighter than three or four books). I did not realize how many free books are available to download either from Amazon.com or a public library.  I do not regret purchasing my Kindle Fire.  It is a matter of preference to which E-Reading Device one wants--the Kindle, the Nook, or an Apple Ipad.  There are those that like their Nook; there are those that like their Kindles (like me); and there are those that like their Ipad or SmartPhone.  There are also those that want to hold that book in their hands and read and have not even thought twice about any type of E-Reader Device.

Another Year Older . . . Next Year is the big 40!

My birthday has came and went without incident.  It was a good birthday . . . I am just another year older, and yes another year wiser--Next Year is the big 40 for me and my Cousin Heather--Not planning any big shindig or anything like that--it will just be another day for me and I will enter another decade--Gosh has time flew the coop. I am still a librarian--Gatekeeper of knowledge and next year will start my 9th year at the Public Library I am employed--no big celebration there either--it is hard to believe that I have been working at the public library for almost a decade--again time has flew by and I enjoy working there and working with the people I work with--I could not ask for a better group of Colleagues to work with--makes the days go by fast as well as our interactions with the patrons that come into the library and utilize our services. Alas another birthday has gone by and it was a good birthday!

Good News/Bad News

 The last two weeks have been very rough, the Fiscal Officer/Assistant Director that worked with me at Wauseon Public Library passed away after a battle with bone cancer, besides being my boss when the Library Director was gone, she was also a friend and I will miss her dearly she was so much fun to work with, she could always make you laugh, she was a wonderful person I feel so blessed that I got to work with her the last six years--now the library is looking for a part-time Fiscal Officer. With the passing of our Fiscal Officer/Assistant Director, another change was made, the board eliminated the Assistant Director Position and those duties were transferred to me under my new Job Title that I was given in October of 2022 as Head Librarian, with the added duties my pay was increased--yes I am pleased with the pay increase (my pay was increased once I accepted the Head Librarian Position), but the circumstances for the added duties and pay increase came at the loss of losing our Fi...

Grandma's 86th Birthday Today--January 11, 2014

I must say 2014 sure came in like a lion weather-wise--we had 11.2 inches of snow twice this month (January) the first storm was on January 2, 2014 and the second round of snow came in January 5-6, 2014. The second round of snow brought blowing and drifting plus Arctic Temperatures that we have not seen around here in decades.  Caused Level 3 Snow Emergencies the first part of the week and caused school closures.  My employer was closed Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (January 6-8, 2014). It has warmed up and this snow is melting--til the next round--hopefully not for a little while yet, we will see. Today--January 11, 2014 is my Grandmother's 86th Birthday. We went to Fulton Manor to visit with her and take her birthday gift to her. She really liked her birthday cards from us and her other set of PJs we picked out and got for her.
